Thursday will be the last day of school.  School will get out at 12:50.  Please plan accordingly.

Items that Belong to School

Please take time this weekend to look for any items that belong to school.  We are looking for book bags, colored binders, and books.  If you find anything, please return it Monday.

Graduation

Graduation will be Wednesday at 1:30.  You will be able to take your child home with you if you like after the ceremony.

Glenmart

Top o’ the mornin’ Glenmart shoppers!  There is an awesome March sale at Glenmart.  Every $3.00 LAKERS water bottle sold will be filled with a mystery prize valued at up to $1.00!  All profits from Glenmart go directly back to our school for items like iPads and recess equipment.  Come to Glenmart to shop, shop, shop!

Health Office

The health office is asking for donated clothes. They are in need of shirts and pants for extra clothes if students need during the day,(all sizes K-5^th grade), preferably clothes that are easy on and easy off. They also need underwear and socks. Thanks for checking your closets!!

Pennies for Patients

Student Council is sponsoring a “Pennies for Patients” drive. Each Friday we count up the change that has come in towards a classroom competition. Please send any change you have collected during the week in on Fridays. This week and last week's collection totalled $111.00!!!  Wait to go!!!!  Keep sending in that spare change!

Enviromental Education

The Environmental Education committee needs your help! In the remaining months of the 2011-12 school year, we are putting together a touch table for Glendale students. These tables encourage children to look AND touch items from our environment. Each month, we'll have a theme, and March is all about BIRDS! If you have anything that is bird related-stuffed birds, owls, etc., and are willing to have children in kindergarten through 5^th grade touching, researching, and learning about, please bring it to your child's classroom teacher by February 28^th. For future planning, April is all about shells and sand, and May is all about animal habitats and homes. Thanks for your help! GD EE Committee

Valentines

Children are welcome to bring Valentines for classmates if they like.  Valentines may be brought to school on Monday or Tuesday.  Please make sure if your child plans to bring Valentines they bring them for all the children in the class.  (If your class list did not make it home to you, please email me and I will resend one.)

I was asked if treats are welcome.  Yes, you may attach a treat if you like.  There are no allergies in the classroom.

I Love to Read Month!!!

February is “I Love to Read Month”, Check out some of the exciting things happening at Glendale:

*Book Exchange: February 15-23 students will have the opportunity to bring in gently used books (picture books and chapter books welcome). For every 2 books a student brings in, he/she will receive 1 ticket to be cashed in for a different gently used book at Reading Night. Bring as many books in as you wish.

*Reading Night:  Reading Night is Thursday, February 23 from 6:15-8:00pm. Events will include: Photos with Goldie Gopher and Viktor Viking 6:30-7:15pm, Bedtime Story with Mr. Richardson in his pajamas 7:45-8:00pm, Book Cover Bingo, Book Exchange (bring your tickets and cash them in for other gently used books), and more!

*Bob Gasch, Storyteller Glendale has invited the spectacular storyteller Bob Gasch to perform on Thursday, February 23.  Bob will also return for Reading Night and do an additional performance for students from 7:15-7:45pm.

D.O.G.S. Event

Looking for something to do tonight?  Join the D.O.G.S. for fun activites in the gym tonight.  The event will be held from 6:30-8:00.  They hope to see you there!

100th Day Celebration

We will be celebrating our 100th Day of Kindergarten on February 17th!  Can you believe it!!!  To make this day extra special, Grandparents are invited to join us for an afternoon filled with fun activities!  Our clebration will begin at 2:00 and end around 3:15.  An invitation is in your child's backpack today.  If a grandparent is unable to attend, parents are invited to come in their place.  Please note, if your child plans to go home with their grandparent that day, parents need to send a note that morning.   

I Love To Read Month!

February is “I Love to Read” month, and some special events are planned for here at Glendale.  Some include:  Book Character Day on Feb. 10^th and PTC Reading night on Feb. 23^rd along with storyteller Bob Gasch.  More info to come!

Valentine Cards

A  class list is coming home for those who choose to share valentines with the class. It is optional.  We will be making valentines bags for collecting valentines here at school next Tuesday.  Valentines are welcome from Wednesday the 8^th – Tues. Feb. 14^th.

Conferences

Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on March 1^st, 2^nd, and 6^th.   A conference reminder form is coming home today.  Please let me know if the assigned time does not work for you so we can get something rescheduled.

Winter Gear

Even though there is not a lot of snow, please send LABELED snowpants and warm winter gear to go outside.

Student Council will be hosting a Super Bowl Food Drive beginning next week.  Bring an item or two next week to donate and vote for who you think will go to the Super Bowl!!!

Pajama Day

Mark your Calendars!!!!  Thursday, December 22nd is PAJAMA DAY in Kindergarten!  We will spend the day in our jammies doing fun activities before we venture off for winter break!

Holiday Party!

Lunch Wednesday!

On Wednesday we will be headed to Stages Theater to see Peef the Christmas Bear!!!!  We will miss our scheduled lunch time at school.  Please make sure to send a bag lunch for your child to eat that day! 

Hat Day

Next Friday, December 16th, is hat day!  Find your favorite hat and wear it to school that day!!!!
